INFINITE’s Woohyun injured his back during ‘BTD’ MV shoot

It was recently reported that INFINITE’s Woohyun injured his hip while filming for the group’s ‘BTD‘ music video.

INFINITE’s agency stated, “Woohyung’s hip injury was re-inflamed during a recent music video shoot, and he was eventually taken... to the emergency room.”

For the past two months, Woohyun has been attending action school to learn both basic and intermediate technical movements. During filming, however, Woohyun sustained a hip injury that was determined to take four weeks for a full recovery.

Woohyun had been taking painkillers in order to practice for both his group’s comeback and for the “MBC 2010 Music Festival“; eventually, however, he was taken to the hospital for treatment.

“The filming of the ‘BTD’ music video was shot on the 23rd, the coldest day of winter, but Woohyun and L’s fighting spirit was so great to the point where some staff members showed tears of sympathy. Thanks to them, the members’ determination increased and we think the quality of the music video turned out better than their existing music videos. We will work hard to maintain a good condition for their comeback. We apologize for making the fans worry,” said the agency.

T-ara’s Jiyeon under fire for unprofessional stage manners

T-ara’s Jiyeon has been criticized for her stage manners during the group’s performance on KBS’s “Concert 7080” on December 26th.
Viewers have been expressing their disappointment with her blank face, and the insincere manner of how she performed the choreography.
Jiyeon appeared aloof through both performances of “Yayaya” and “Like An Indian Doll“, which eventually lead to KBS’s message board being flooded with discontented viewers.
One viewer commented, “I don’t know whether Jiyeon had personal issues, but she’s still a celebrity and it was uncomfortable watching her. She really needs to become more professional.“ Others wrote, “T-ara needs to write an apology…,” and “I thought Jiyeon was a pro, but it seems I was wrong. Was the 7080 concert not important enough for her?”
Online community site Instiz has also uploaded a video of the broadcast, heating up the controversy even further.
Core Contents Media addressed the issue, “Ever since their ‘YaYaYa’ promotions, the members have had a packed schedule with preparing for the year-end festivals and filming their reality show. Getting barely two hours of sleep, we feel helpless as people who look over them.”
However, they could not deny that Jiyeon’s actions during the broadcast were inappropriate. “Jiyeon has a more punishing schedule than the other members due to her drama filming for ‘Jungle Fish 2‘. But we believe that she herself needs to put in more effort in regards to showing these kind of images.”

[News] Girl groups suffering from poor health due to work conditions

A warning bell has been sounding over the health conditions of girl groups lately, as many have admitted to taking an IV.

On December 24th, reporters were able to meet with girl groups backstage from KBS 2TV’s “Music Bank“, and were shocked to discover bandages on the members’ hands. These bandages covered the contact points where IV needles were inserted.

Orange Caramel’s Raina expressed, “Our members aren’t in good health lately. Colds and fevers are common, but because of the fatigue, we’re not in good condition. I just got an IV at the hospital before coming here. Maybe it’s because of my cold, but my throat is closed up, so I’m worried about my live.”

In SISTAR’s waiting room are medicine bags labelled with Hyorin and Bora’s names. Hyorin revealed, “Sometimes we get IV treatments at the hospital and get medicine. All of our members got an IV before coming here.”

Trio group VNT added, “Yumi isn’t in good condition and got an IV as well.”

SECRET, who created two hits this year with “Madonna” and “Magic,” expressed some of their fatigue as well. Member Zinger was revealed to have been in the hospital for laryngitis recently.

TS Entertainment, their agency, stated, “Zinger had a fever along with laryngitis so she got treated at the hospital in addition to receiving an IV. She’s gotten a lot better now, and is just taking medicine.”

The reason for their deteriorating health is their killer schedule. Girl groups are also forced to work in unfavorable conditionsm such as having to wear mini-skirts, hot pants, and tube tops in freezing weather. Such outfits have recently developed into a controversy with T-ara‘s outdoor ‘Yayaya‘ performace.

Girl groups are also not given ample time to rest. With many year-end ceremonies to prepare for and unending event schedules lined up, those that are lucky get around 2-3 hours of sleep at best.

Starship Entertainment, SISTAR’s agency, revealed, “Because of their busy schedule, the members haven’t been able to rest properly. We’re trying to give them a break period as best as we can, but with preparations for year-end events, interviews, and broadcast programs, it’s not as easy as we thought.”

Regardless of such conditions, these talented girls have managed to get up on stage and show off their vocals while executing perfect dance choreographies, impressing many with their ‘professional mindset.’

Is JYJ Yoochun’s brother going to debut in the industry?

JYJ’s Yoochun posted a new tweet that’s become the center of hot attention. A shoutout to his younger brother, Yoohwan, seems innocuous enough, but netizens believe that it hints at greater things.

On December 25th, he wrote, “Yoohwan, whom I love!!!! ^^ Do well from now on.”

The picture uploaded with the tweet shows off his brother’s masculine charisma, which stands in contrast to Yoochun’s characteristic ‘flowerboy image’.

Netizens commented, “This is the first time that I am seeing a clear face of him,” and “Is he debuting in the industry soon?”

Super Junior’s Kim Heechul will be joining CNBLUE’s Jung Yonghwa, 2AM’s Jo Kwon and actress Hwang Jung Eum as an MC for the upcoming “2010 SBS Gayo Daejun“.

This will be Yonghwa and Heechul’s second consecutive time as an MC for the same show. Last year, Yonghwa made several mistakes (since it was his first time MCing for a large-scale event), and was cruelly dubbed as an ‘MC Nuisance’.

During the 600th episode special on SBS’s ‘Inkigayo‘, Heechul said to Yong Hwa, “You’re doing well now. I think you’re developing more through MCing “Inkigayo”.”

Girl Story’s Kim Hye In is ‘Little Jiyeon’

A member from the upcoming ‘low-teen’ girl group, Girl Story, has been gaining attention because of her resemblance to T-ara’s Jiyeon.

Kim Hye In uploaded a picture she took with Jiyeon on her mini-homepage, which has been receiving comments like, “There’s a strong resemblance in the overall feel you get from their faces.” Consequently, Hye In became known as ‘Little Jiyeon’.

The picture was taken in the waiting room during Girl Story’s debut performance. Being a fan of Jiyeon’s, Hye In asked her sunbae for a picture in celebration of her debut.

She wrote, “I was so happy to have met Jiyeon-unni. She said that it was nice to see me and asked me to be careful since the stage is slippery.”

Girl Story under fire for having an average age of 9.75

A new controversy seems to be brewing around Girl Story, an upcoming ‘low-teen’ girl group who debuted with an average age of 9.75. The members consist of Kim Hye In (9), Lee Yoon Jung (9), Kim Yuri (10), and the oldest, Kim Chae Young (11). All four members first debuted as child actresses in a variety of hit films, dramas, and CFs.

Despite younger girl group debuts being the current trend in the industry, many have been raising voices of concern over the outrageously young ages of the girls. Not only that, but many have also been asking what the standards and limits are for their lyrics, clothing, and choreography.

A line from “Pinky Pinky“, their debut track, has drawn concerns over appropriate content. The line reads, “Hit on me confidently, you’re making me wait and wait. Before it gets any later, hurry up and come to me.“ Many are of the opinion that the lyrics are not appropriate for elementary school students to be singing. Other comments such as, “Look at their pictures, their thighs are completely exposed. This isn’t appropriate,” have been surfacing as well.

Regarding these concerns, representatives of their agency answered, “We believe that it is possible for there to be negative opinions regarding Girl Story and issues of sexually suggestive material. That is why we paid extra attention to those issues when making the choreography and album jacket photos.”

Another obstacle that remains in the way is public broadcast performances. GP Basic’s Janey (12) was unable to perform with the group on-air due to legal issues.

The representative continued, “We’re predicting difficulties in getting the group on public broadcast shows. We’ll be concentrating on promoting them through cable shows.”

Dreaming of becoming the representative idols for the ‘low-teen’ age group, many will be watching on in order to see just how they manage to overcome their difficulties and differentiate themselves from the other standard girl groups.

Do you think these girls are too young to be performing, or are the standards old-fashioned? Let us know your thoughts below!

B2ST’s concert had to be paused temporarily due to a fan stampede

It was reported that B2ST had to pause their concert about 20 minutes into their show due to a stampede of spectators in the standing section of the venue.

B2ST opened their first independent ‘Welcome to B2ST Airlines‘ concert on December 12th, and over 8000 enthusiastic fans were in attendance, but some of them may have been a bit too excited.

Before the concert even began, the 2000 fans in the standing section were not abiding to the ordering system and were creating a dangerous situation for surrounding fans. The situation became more severe once the members actually came out, as the fans began to stampede to the front, worrying the members.

After their beginning performances of ‘Special‘ and ‘Soom‘, the members asked the fans to “be careful,” and urged the fans to be more safe. However, as soon as they saw the members walking out onto the projected stage, the 1000 fans in the standing C section moved further towards the front.

As a result, B2ST had to pause the concert after performing ‘Bad Girl’ and ‘Mystery‘ due to fears of possibly creating a great accident in the standing section.

So after 20 minutes of performing their first four tracks, the members went backstage for 10 minutes to allow for the reorganization of the seating sections of the concert.

When the members returned back on stage, leader Yoon Doojoon said, “There was an accident during our performance. We’d like to apologize first and foremost.” Son Dongwoon also expressed, “Since we will be getting closer, we’ll be thankful if everyone refrains from moving closer and abides by the ordering system.” From then onwards, the crowd stayed calm and let B2ST continue on with their ‘Mystery’ performance.

Why can’t B2ST’s Yoseob fall asleep?

Keeping in mind that this hot group made their debut with ‘Bad Girl’ a little over a year ago, B2ST has been running ragged with an incredibly hectic schedule, as they’ve released four mini albums in just one year.

The group has barely had any rest, since on top of their weekly performances for their fourth title track ‘Beautiful‘, the members also have their own personal schedules to digest (Lee Ki Kwang for “Hot Brothers” and Yoon Doojoon for MBC “All My Love”), in addition to preparing for their first independent concert.

With only 2 hours of rest time, the members fall fast asleep even in moving vehicles. However, it’s been revealed that Yang Yoseob seems to be the only one who can’t sleep. Lee Ki Kwang revealed, “Because of Yoseob vocals, he has a lot of high-pitched parts of songs. That’s why he purposely stays up when the other members are sleeping – he’s scared that his throat will close up while he’s sleeping and his voice won’t sound right once he wakes up.”

Yo Seob added, “I can’t help stressing over it. I tend to want to sound perfect even while I’m practicing. I guess that’s why I’ve been losing weight. I didn’t think we would be able to release so many albums in such a short and busy period of time. I’m happy the songs have come out as good as we’ve practiced. Since we have a long way to go, we will work harder to show a better side of ourselves.”

Co-Ed’s CEO regrets the use of the members’ long nicknames

While making an appearance on the November 24th broadcast of MBC’s “Radio Star,” participating members from T-ara and Co-Ed revealed that their company CEO had regretted about using such elaborate names for the Co-Ed members.

MC Kim Kuk Jin mused, “Your four-character names are much like TVXQ. One must have a certain level of pride in order to name yourselves after such a group; why did you?”

Co-Ed consists of unique names such as One Light Hyo Young, One Star Hyewon, Star Light Chanmi, Smile Soomi, Wise Taewoon, Rascal Kwang Haeng, Sky Earth Yoosung, Hot Blood Kangho, Balance Noori, and Solid Sungmin, all personally named by Kim Kwang Su, CEO of Core Contents Media.

T-ara’s Hyomin added, “When the member names for Co-Ed were first revealed, it didn’t receive a great response. The CEO must’ve seen the replies, as he asked me, ‘What do you think of the names?’ I replied that the reactions weren’t great and he began regretting it, saying, ‘I thought so.’”

Netizens commented, “Honestly, the member names are kind of much,” “Their comedic names made it easier to get used to them,” and “They have to go back to the naming center.”

Another segment of the show examined the reason behind T-ara’s need for a new member. When asked by MC Yoon Jong Shin why they decided to take on a new member, T-ara replied, “Ryu Hwa Young is the same age as maknae Jiyeon. Our CEO wanted to lower our average age so he added her.”

Controversy swirls over pictures of Co-Ed’s Kangho in a bar

Rookie group Co-Ed has been heating up the internet once more after certain pictures of member Hot Blood Kangho began circulating on portal sites.

In the pictures, Kangho (who was born in 1991) is shown hanging out with a group of friends in what looks to be a private room of a bar.

Netizens criticized his behavior as a minor, leaving comments such as, “He must be rich”, “Tsk tsk, a student in a bar,” “How can a 91′er be sitting in a bar like that? What’re the police doing?”, “Looks like his name isn’t ‘Hot Blood’ for no reason”, and “Doesn’t the company realize that it doesn’t matter whether this was before or after high school graduation, it’s still bad?”

To respond to such criticisms, Kangho’s agency (Core Contents Media) clarified the pictures with a statement through Star News: ”This picture was taken with Kangho’s friends after he graduated from high school. They’re just pictures of him feeling welcome with his close friends.”

Wang Biho takes on Co-Ed

The ladies and gents of Co-Ed were Wang Biho’s latest victims on the October 24th episode of KBS 2TV’s “Gag Concert.”

Wang Biho’s warmed up his show by jokingly voicing:

“Since you guys sing and dance, you would be students at an arts school. If students like them went to my school, they would immediately be reported to the school dean. The dean would make them shave their heads.”

Wang Biho later scoffed at Co-Ed for the members’ unique nicknames. In particular, he targeted Solid Sungmin (알찬성민) and linked his name to one of Korea’s finest delicacies, pickled crabs. The first two letters of Sungmin’s name (알찬) also means ‘packed with eggs’ – the more eggs a pickled crab has, the better it tastes. Wang Biho teased Solid Sungmin by asking, “Are you a pickled crab?”

Sori and actor Kim Heung Gook also became victims of Wang Biho’s ridicule.

Nine Muses’ Hyuna debuts successfully as its newest member

On October 14th, Nine Muses returned to the music scene with their follow-up track, “Ladies.” Although it was Hyuna’s first performance, her impressive dance abilities stimulated viewer interest. After the broadcast, her name quickly appeared on mulitple portal site search rankings.

Nine Muses’ management, Star Empire, stated,

“Like the other model-idols of the Nine Muses – who have an average height of 172cm (5′8″) – Hyuna (23) is tall and has a charming appearance. In 2007, she placed in the SBS ‘Supermodel Asia Pacific Competition‘, debuting shortly afterwards… She is a talented singer who was active as a guest vocalist for House Rulez, and actively trained until she joined Nine Muses… Please anticipate Nine Muses’ new energy with Hyuna’s addition to the team.”

Netizens who watched their follow-up performance said, “It seems that they practiced a lot. I like the live, song, concept, all of it.” and “The feeling was like an upgrade of their debut stage. I wish they would be active for a long time and continue to show themselves in a positive light.”

Co.Ed StarLight ChanMi, "I Prefer now being in a mixed group than over Girls' Generation"

ChanMi of the 10-member mixed group Co.Ed has recently garnered attention from being a former SM Entertainment trainee.

Not long ago, an Internet community board attracted attention with previous pictures of Co.Ed's ChanMi (Heo Chanmi).

ChanMi was dressed in a beige outfit with cute clothes and pose. Along her were SNSD pre-debut, which she was originally going to join. There were also saying ChanMi was going to join f(x) alongside with Krystal and Sulli, but those were just rumors.

After the news broke, ChanMi said, "I was a SM Entertainment trainee who would practice hard. I wanted to be a female group member, but now I feel like a mixed group is better."

ChanMi is admired in Co.ed for being a powerful vocal. In regards to this, when Co.Ed's debut title track "Too Late" was revealed, T-ara's HyoMin praised her by saying, "ChanMi's powerful vocals are a good asset for Co.Ed and help gain popularity for them."

"Because of the hype, it's been a burden. We have had to practice harder," ChanMi said. The the leader, SooMi had added, "SM gets you five years of training time, and yet, some people aren't able to radiate a good enough stage presence. Honestly, powerful ChanMi fits Co.Ed's code the best," she said with praises.

In October, Co.Ed will experience a transformation with a totally new style and mini album.

Co.Ed - I LOVING YOU A THOUSAND TIMES lyrics with Translation

Words that make my heart beat.
I’m became a really happy person after I met you.

When I open my eyes, it may be a dream. I keep getting anxious.
You’re my love, my destiny. I cannot lose you.

I love you, even if I say it a thousand times, it’s words I want to say again.
Words that make my heart beat.
Thankful words that you’ll protect me so I won’t be hurt.

I truly thank you. On a tiring day, a person that can hold my hand

Co-Ed reveals their dorms

Co-Ed seems like they live life within a teenage romance novel, with so many different charismatic members gathered into one group. Many assumed that the group lived together, and were highly curious of the events that went on behind the scenes, but Co-Ed actually revealed that they are divided. What’s even more surprising is that they don’t know the location of each other’s dorms. The members return to their dorms after completing their schedules, and are too busy falling asleep to even check whether the other dorm is even alive.

Sports Chosun recently visited their dorms in Kangnam, Seoul and reported on the group. The girls’ dorm consists of three rooms and two bathrooms and is about 30 pyeongs large. The rooms are decorated with a variety of pink items fit to each members’ tastes. Chanmi held up a doll and stated, “This is a gift from T-ara’s Jiyeon.” Hyoyoung introduced her own doll, which looked like it was ripped off at the head. “My friend ripped the doll’s neck, so it couldn’t be helped.”

The leader of Co-Ed, Soomi, has her own room. Designed to fit her personality, the room is simple and clean, filled with large objects such as massagers and candles. The first item she introduced were her dark curtains, stating, “I‘m very sensitive so I can’t sleep if there’s even the tiniest bit of light.”

Maknae Hyewon as well has her own individual room. She introduced a large teddy bear gifted to her by her father as her most prized possession.

With four girls living in one dorm, one would assume that their rooms would be a mess, but such was not the case. The members divide the house chores and clean everything themselves. Soomi stated, “We don’t have enough room to store all of our shoes, so we keep our shoe boxes and hide them under the hangers in the living room. We like being neat. I’m also the oldest, so I’m usually the one doing the chores, but my dongsengs help out a lot as well.”

On the topic of their daily schedules, the girls revealed that their day starts at 9 AM. Soomi wakes up first and proceeds to wake the other members. Unfortunately, having only slept 3-4 hours due to their long rehearsal schedule, waking up the other members is not an easy task, especially for maknae Hyewon. “Hyewon never wakes up right away. You have to kick away her blanket and physically lift her off of the bed, but even then, you’ll find her dozing off on a chair after a while.”

The most systematic member is Chanmi, thanks to her long trainee years and previous dorming experience. Soomi revealed, “Chanmi wakes up right away when you wake her up. She once woke up so fast that she hit her face on the floor. Everyone was really surprised, and asked if she was okay, but she told us to continue on with our morning tasks because she was okay.”

Soomi also expressed her feelings on her role change from being Seeya’s maknae to Co-Ed’s leader. “It’s my first time dorming with other people. It was really difficult transitioning into the mindset of being the oldest since there’s so man things to take care of, but it has gotten a lot better now. Everyone knows what they have to do.”

Hyewon and Chanmi agreed by stating, “Soomi unni gives us a lot of advice and takes care of us. We haven’t fought together yet, and there’s nothing too difficult about dorming other than missing our parents.”

On their eating habits, the members expressed their disappointment in having to constantly diet. Although they ordered fast food often behind the back of their manager, they began to limit themselves after debuting. Hyoyoung stated, “I felt that I really needed to manage myself. I want to lose about 5kg, but it’s not as easy as it sounds.”

Their company is located five minutes from their dorm by foot, giving the members the luxury of being able to wake up late and rush to the company and take care of their morning routine there. They then stay up the entire night rehearsing, and crash when they return to their dorms. Because of such a lifestyle, they expressed that there was no time for exercise or full meals, making what they consider their diet nothing more than starving. Hyoyoung continued, “It can’t be helped if we want to look prettier on screen. It’d be nice if we had time to exercise, but we don’t. I’m thinking of going to the gym before our schedules start.”

As for the boys’ dorm, the dorm is located about 700 steps away from the girls’ dorm, and consists of three bedrooms and one bathroom. The maknae line of Sungmin, Noori, and Kangho use one room, while Kwanghaeng and Yoosung each have their own rooms. The living room belongs to Taewoon. There were no cute decorative items like the girls’ dorm, as rooms were instead filled with only the absolute necessities.

The first thought that would reach anyone’s mind is how six people would fit in one bathroom. As soon as the thought was mentioned, the boys immediately asked, “What is the girls’ dorm like?” They then began to express their dissatisfaction with the bathroom, claiming that it was like a war in the mornings. In cases of emergencies, they stated that they would even sometimes run down to the PC room next door and use their bathroom.

Just like the girls, the average sleeping hours of the boys are about 3-4 hours. Yoosung usually wakes the boys up, and they all head to the company building with their toothbrushes in tow to wash up there. Although they divided the house chores at first, their busy schedules put a halt to such a system, instead letting the mess pile. “Still, there isn’t a big problem.” Fortunately, their company CEO made one visit to their dorm and immediately hired a maid.

On their actual dorming lives, Yoosung stated, “The maknae has all of the power. When I was sleeping, he pulled my leg, causing me to fall off of the bed and injure my back. I was going to lecture him, but he retorted by saying he’d tell on me to the manager.”

The maknae is also said to have a horrible habit of not washing himself despite his cute image on stage. The members confessed that he never washed for five days straight once. “His feet smell horrible, and it’s not his clothes that smell bad, but his body.”

Kwanghaeng stated, “Kangho got really mad once. He was trying to sleep, but Sungmin’s smell was keeping him awake. He got angry and forced him to wash.”

With six boys living in one dorm, the episodes they revealed seemed to be unending. They stated that they frequently ran away from their dorm, often to places such as PC rooms, snack shops, and for one member, the sauna, although he was caught by their manager soon after.

And unlike the girls’ dorm, which is busy with dieting, the boys receive the VIP treatment at their local snack shop. Due to their fridge being empty, and their dorm not even having a basic rice cooker, the boys frequent the 24-hour corner mart after rehearsal.

Maknae Sungmin especially does not easily gain weight, stating, “I was chubby when I was in elementary school, but I just began losing weight. I felt like I was becoming a skeleton since my height kept growing and my weight kept dropping. I weigh about 48kg now.”

Kangho, on the other hand, is a health fanatic. No matter how late their daily schedules end, he makes sure to visit the local gym as soon as he wakes up. “I exercised twice a day before we debuted. We don’t have a lot of time lately, so I can’t do that anymore.” One friend of his commented, “He’s strict with managing himself. Even if a schedule ends at 5 AM, he makes sure to fit in time to exercise. He’d sleep for one hour and never even act tired at work.”
