Supernova feels like debuting inspite of success in Japan.

Local fans in Korea want them back in their country. They made it big in Japan

Back in Autumn 2007 when they released their debut album in Korea. Supernova had spent a long time of hiatus in Korea. But they made it big in Japan. Last September 209 when they released their debut single ‘Kimi Dake Wo Zutto’ and at the same day it was released, it entered the Oricon Singles Daily Chart and the succeeding singles, also ranked to the top 10. It was a unexpected result. In response, the members had a close relationship with their fans.

“We think our song is different in compared to other groups,” Supernova showed humility. They frequently shake hands with their fans and also direct contact.

After the debut in Japan, they prepared a step by step success into one big step. January 2008 when they performed as a guest to SG Wannabe’s concert in Japan and there were many good responses about them. Several major labels in Japan want to establish them an artist in Japan. But after some considerations, they made a deal with Universal Japan.

After gaining popularity in Japan, they felt a strong feeling. They said, It’s a feeling that we’re debuting again. After an average of 3 years in seeing Korean fans and one album. As we started in Japan, we also want to make a comeback. “If we do not have activities in Japan, probably we’re not existing.” They said.

They new album’s title track, ‘On the Days That I Miss You’ was made by the hit maker Brave Brothers. In addition to its strong sense of melody, it had an easy beat that increased its popularity. The goal of their comeback is to let the public know the presence of Supernova.

“We want to be more intimate to our fans in Korea.” They said.
Supernova will leave later this month in Japan to continue their activities there and to release their third studio album. They are going to tour Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka.

‘Supernova’s skill is great!’ as remarked

Supernova was recently interviewed by Bloomberg SPN, “Idol group in Korea shows their skill in incomparable level.

Recently, there are many Korean group debuting in Japan. Girl Groups like Kara and Girls Generation are taking high interest among Japanese.

After two years, Supernova returned in Korea and released a new mini album. They emerged as a popular group that’s in the spotlight again.

Local Japanese pop groups are unusual. They are particular with their musical ability and brilliant performances on the stage, and should be highly charismatic.

Being an idol in Korea and Japan is different. There are many expectations. Idol group in Korea are looking forward to Japanese music industry. In Korea, they will accept new musicians. A typical example, Dong Bang Shin Gi.

“We love everything about Japan, thanks to our senior, Dong Bang Shin Gi. Our seniors, Dong Bang Shin Gi are from Korea and became an idol group in Japan and thereby, changed the perception.

But skills alone will not let you achieve in the Japanese market. Dong Bang Shin Gi was able to succeed in Japan, their skills reached. They considered a strategy in localization.

Supernova emphasized localization strategy they were very particular with the language. For almost two years as they were ready to debut in Japan and they speak Japanese without an interpreter. Thus, including their debut single that was released September last year, they were able to top eight out of ten in Oricon singles daily chart, gaining popularity in Japan.

Yoonhak of Supernova #5 idol leader Japanese fans would follow

Japanese website, ‘Wow Korea’, recently ran a poll for its visitors, asking them to name the top six Korean group leaders they would follow if they themselves were idols.

The survey, which ran from mid-May to June 8th, received nearly 900,000 votes, giving viewers a clear insight of which Korean idols were most popular in Japan.

In sixth place was SHINee’s beloved leader, Onew! With 809 votes, the cheerful boy captivated the hearts of around 0.1% of the web page visitors.

After Onew came Jung Yoonhak of Supernova, in fifth place. With 1159 votes, this idol successfully proved that he was popular even in far-away Japan.

Super Junior’s dimple-faced leader Leeteuk managed to beat the bottom two contestants by quite a large difference. With a little more than 102,000 nominations, Leeteuk tore off a large portion of the votes – 11.4%!

Right before Leeteuk came one of Korea’s most famous celebrities. With exactly 300 more votes than the leader of Super Junior, Big Bang’s G-Dragon received 102,463 votes, giving him 11.5% of the total!

Kim Hyunjoong was next in line for the nomination, and with 323,939 of the votes, the pretty-faced leader of SS501 was able to place an impressive second in this popular survey.

And in first place, with a whopping 40.6% of the votes was DBSK’s charismatic leader, Yunho! With more than 360,000 nominations, Yunho was able to make quite a statement, and showed that despite the difficulties that his boy band is currently facing, the leader is still admired and eternally respected.
