On February 14th,girl group GP Basic has returned with a new single titled "Edge Ta (Edge 타)".

"Edge Ta" is a track hybrid of Euro-dance and Southern rock's rhythmic guitar. According to an official from the group's agency, GP Basic will also release their first album this year and will have activities in Japan as well.

Upcoming girl group GP Basic uncovered their maknae just a few days ago and now they revealed the group’s leader Hannah.

I already have something against this group because it’s ridiculous that they are so young but I’ll give them a shot.

The leader is known for looking a bit like f(x)’s Sulli even though I don’t really see the resemblance. She is one of the best students at Sung Seo Middle School. It’s already been revealed that she is in her second year of middle school which is 8th grade in America.

She’s entered many dance contests as a young child and won third place at the Asian Pacific Dance Sports Competition. She also won second place at the MBC Pro Ama Dance Sports Competition.

The company said, “Hyena’s experience shows that she has a special talent in dancing. Please look forward to her role as the leader.”

A girl that’s not even in high school is going to lead five other girls. Am I the only one that thinks their company is depriving them of their childhoods?

With the group’s debut date just around the corner, GP Basic has been gaining explosive amount of attention from many, specifically due to their such young age. Besides Janey who currently attends elementary school, all members are merely middle school students.

Although their overall concept of “youth” is pretty fresh for K-pop industry, it seems like many people are worrisome for what’s awaiting for the girls. Some believe that dressing prepubescent girls in tight pants and high heels is ethically wrong and should not be attempted.

There is also a problem for GP Basic’s appearance on various music programs, since a handful of them require parental guidance for those under 15. The shows include KBS Music Bank, MBC Show! Music Core, and SBS Inkigayo. If all three shows ban young kids from even viewing the show, how will they be able to perform in the show?

About this question, Korea Communications Standards Commission declared, “The group’s appearance itself will not be a problem, but it is definitely inappropriate. Their choreography and wardrobe will be the main factor on our banning decision.”

I just can’t wait to see the girls’ first performance.

GP Basic, a group that has yet to formally debut, is a recent hot topic in the music world today.

Preparing to debut with their song Game, GP Basic is already garnering interest, due to the very young ages of the six members. With one member still in elementary school, and five in the second year of junior high school, the group has earned the very fitting name of being the “nation’s youngest girl group.”

Among the members, the youngest member, Janey, is attracting a lot of attention in particular. In charge of rapping in the group, the elementary school sixth-grader has actually already starred in many CFs as a child actress.

Last year, she appeared on SBS’s Star King as “elementary school girl rapper”, and together with “little Seo In Young”, Ahn Joo Hee, the two girls showed their prowess with a cute and lively performance as the “Star King Girls”. With the performance, Janey showed off her rap skills with her unique husky voice, and even revealed a secret talent – the “shaking dance”.

All in all, she received lots of love from the viewers.

A Korean entertainment company recently announced their plans for debuting Korea’s youngest girl group yet, GP Basic.
The average age of the six-member group is a mere 13.5 years old, and the youngest member is still in sixth grade. The oldest, however, is still going through her second year of middle school. These girls have beaten f(x)’s record for youngest age, which is 16.

GP (which stands for Girl Power) Basic’s entertainment company stated that their age was nothing to worry about, however. “Although they are young, they will show a power that will challenge that of older girl groups,” a spokesperson claimed. “The members show good teamwork, as they all trained in dancing and singing together for the past two years.”

GP Basic will be releasing its first single album sometime during the second week of August.
